You've read our previous blog and heard about the benefits of using organic oils on your hair and scalp. But how do you actually use them and make sure you're making the most of them? Here are 5 Simple Steps for using the oils so that your scalp is healthy and your hair is happy. Pre-wash Deep Conditioning Treatment Step 1: Put a small amount into palm. The amount you use will depend on the length and condition of your hair, but try an amount of the size of a 5 or 10 pence piece. After you have used it a few times you will get to know the amount that works best for you and your hair. Step 2: Use your finger tips to massage the oil into your scalp. Make the most of the opportunity to treat yourself! Massaging your scalp will increase circulation, help relieve stress and headaches and really give the oil a chance to be absorbed into the skin. Our oils are 100% organic and made from a blend of Jojoba, Argan, Castor and Apricot Kernel oils. These are full of anti-oxidants, essential fatty acids and vitamins and deeply nourish and moisturise skin helping with, amongst other things, dry or oily skin, itchiness and dandruff. They can also bring relief to eczema and psoriasis. Step 3: Once you've given your head a good massage work the oil through to the ends of your hair. Leave on your hair for a minimum of 10 mins but longer if possible & for maximum benefit leave on overnight. The blends of essential oils that we use, plus the effects of the massage should really help you to get a good night's sleep. Make sure you put an old pillow case, towel or T-shirt over your pillow to stop it getting oily. Step 4: Wash your hair as normal, preferably with an all natural shampoo or shampoo bar. My favourite is our very popular Chamomile & Lavender Organic Shampoo Bar. Some people prefer to rinse and then wash again, but I usually find that once is enough. Step 5: Dry and style your hair, using your usual styling products where desired and you're good to go! Post-wash Hair Conditioning
If you don't have the time or just don't fancy doing the pre-wash conditioning treatment, then you can skip that part and use the oils after washing your hair instead. You can also do this in addition to the pre-wash treatment if you have very dry ends. For dry ends, rub a few drops through the ends of damp hair after washing. You will need to use less oil here than if you are doing it as pre-wash. The right amount of oil will leave your hair soft and shiny with extra body. Too much oil may leave it looking greasy. As mentioned before, after a few times, you'll get to know what works best for you. These Organic Conditioning oils are also perfect to use on the face and body. Look out for our next blog which will tell you about all the other ways you can use them to pamper yourself and give yourself happy skin. Would you like more tips, news and monthly discounts?
