Luxurious dark grey gift wrap for a very smart finish.
This smart dark grey gift wrap is handmade from lokta paper and decorated with leaves during the dyeing process. It is strong, thick and has a soft luxurious feel with slightly uneven edges.
Each sheet is slightly different.
We use this stunning paper, which is both fair trade and eco-friendly to wrap some of our gift soaps.
It is so nice that we wanted to give you the opportunity to use it too!

Handmade in Nepal from the bark of the Lokta or Daphne papyracea plant, a shrub that grows in the foothills of the Himalayas.
This paper will be sent to you folded.
Why not fasten your gift with some string, a ribbon or use some plastic free paper sticking tape available in our shop.
Lokta is a shrub that grows abundantly in the foot hills of the Himalayas at altitudes in excess of 6500 ft. It is harvested by local villagers who then transport it back to the village and make it into paper by boiling, cleaning and then beating it to produce a fibre pulp. It is mixed with water and poured into a shallow floating frame made from bamboo poles stretched with canvas, then sun-dried to produce the crisp long fibre paper. When it is dry it’s ready to be dyed and printed by skilled craft makers.
Harvesting this sustainable plant helps preserve the fragile ecosystem in Nepal and gives regular fairly paid work to the people of the many mountain villages.
This giftwrap is produced by Get Paper Industries (GPI), a socially aware cooperative in Nepal. GPI has won many awards for the charity work it does in the local area, from supporting people affected by HIV and Aids to establishing schools to support the education of underprivileged children.
It is supplied to us by Paper High, a company that works with this organisation and other small businesses and charities working to Fair Trade guidelines and World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) co-operatives.
Your order will probably be sent in pre-used packaging. We never use plastic and fasten our parcels with paper tape. However, there may be plastic on the parcel from its previous life.
